I can’t believe that I have been here for just about 6 weeks now, but here we are! It has been an amazing journey so far and really we are just getting started! We are living in a city called Jarabacoa, at the Students International base here. Every time I come here I am amazed at just how beautiful this place is, …in more than just the scenery. I have meet some pretty cool people here as well! Josh and Vicki Mathews, who are in the photo below, have become great friends and ones that I can go to anything for. I work at Centro Especial Genesis, the special education school here and love getting to know all the kids and teachers, especially Amy, my site leader, who is awesome, and is never to far away if I need anything, seeing as she lives right upstairs from me! I love waking up in the morning and going to work now something that I have not been able to say for a long time if ever. I know I am in the right place at the right time in life, and the felling is awesome! While at the school I kind of took over the Developmental Therapy site from Amy who took over running the school. It has defiantly been fun and I love the one on one that I get with the kids, even if one of them might need to get 5 stitches while using child’s scissors in my watch… yea that happened, to this little girl, Henny, in the picture below. She’s all good and happy as ever! There is never a dull moment at Genesis. From the first day that I arrived here I have felt so at home and at complete peace with my decision to come to the Dominican Republic. God is defiantly working in my heart here and with just this short time here I can see some changes in me and some direction to where God wants me to head. I feel that this, missions or the like, could be what God has in store for me in the long run, I still have a lot of praying to do about it though. Jarabacoa has become home for me!
