April Newsletter

Hola again from the Dominican Republic! Time is sure flying by it feels like I just sent this newsletter out yesterday for last month! And to think that we have just reached the halfway mark of our time here! This month has looked kind of different which might be why it feels like it was so short. The schools here that SI runs are on a trimester schedule and we are on break right now, until summer starts up in a few weeks. It was really strange saying goodbyes to the kids, even if it is only for a month. I know that I will be back there but at the same time it was a really eye opening thing for me at how the end of the summer might look. These kids hold a special place in my heart and it will be heartbreaking I fear to say goodbyes. God has been working crazing things in my life. He has been showing me who I am and who He wants me to be. I am learning to seek Him first in all that I do and to trust Him with everything that He has planed for my life. A few opportunities and realizations have come my way and I am praying and seeking guidance on what He wants me to do with those. It has been an amazing journey so far and I look forward to what the next few months will look like! So this month, being as we had no schools open for the one team that we had come through, we held a VBS each day at a different school. It was during this week that I had the realizations that 1. I really missed Genesis and 2. I really love hanging around and teaching preschool aged kids, they are right above of Rances and Franklin, are all from our fun week of VBS. Being also that we were on break we were able to take some time last weekend and spend Easter at a resort in Puerta Plata. Now I know what you must be thinking, they sure got it really nice over there, and I would have to agree with you, we have been really blessed with the place that we live in and the care that they give us and the places we have been able to go to. I was really looking forward to a relaxing weekend, which it was for sure. I was able to just sit and look out over the ocean and reflect on what God has done in me the last few months and in turn was given this peace. It is hard to explain exactly I just know that I felt completely refreshed when I got back home on Wednesday, and ready for so cute! So all the pictures here, except the one whatever comes next. So I am excited for the summer and all that it has in store with friends coming and work at Genesis and for all that God has yet to make known to me, but at the same time it is going to go by so fast and before I know it my time here in the Dominican Republic will be up. This place has really become home for me as of late so I am taking in each day that is given to me and living life to the fullest! To Keep updated during the month there is always my Facebook page were I will continue to upload photos of my weeks here, feel free to email me anytime, and also I am keeping a blog. The web address for my blog is: http://sweeneychristine.blogspot.com/. Thanks for all the continued prayers and support, and I will talk to you all soon!
